Habrotrocha maculata, specimen compressed by coverslide, dorsoventral view. This species is characterized by a conspicuous granulated integument of the trunk. The granules are randomly scattered, which is in contrast to Habrotrocha aspera (which was found in the same location), where the granules/ dots are in the longitudinal folds of the trunk integument. The image shows that in the area of the transverse muscles the dots are lacking. |
